| Cafe Lotus Located on UbudÕs Main Road (Jalan Raya), right in the center of town, is our most spectacular restaurant: Cafe Lotus. The setting is magnificent even by Balinese standards: a large lotus pond framed by ancient flowering trees with one of Ubud's main temple complex, Pura Taman Kemuda Saraswati, serving as a backdrop. One of the longest established restaurants in Ubud, it was taken over and upgraded by Lotus in 1990. The restaurantÕs ambience has been preserved and enhanced with themes and flavors of the Lotus Restaurant concept. Here you can also dine the Asian way, seated on bamboo mats, overlooking lotus flowers in bloom, and twice a week (Tuesdays and Saturdays) you can dine while watching performances of traditional Balinese dances and gamelan orchestras. At other times you may hear musicians in practice or witness one of UbudÕs frequent temple ceremonies in progress. Surely, all this will make your visit an unforgettable experience. |

| Amandari (peaceful spirits) is located only a few minutes from the art community of Ubud, in Central Bali. The resort is set on the very edge of the Ayung River gorge, with the village of Kedewatan adjacent.
Amandari has been designed as a Balinese village, with river-stone walkways and high paras-stone walls. The pathway that runs through Amandari and down the valley to the river below is said to be sacred land. Paths lead from Amandari to surrounding villages. | My instincts turned out to be correct, the Cafe des Artistes is indeed operated by a Belgian, Rudy Kerremans. He is a genial host and his professional touch is seen in many different aspects of this amazing little cafe. The restaurant name arrives from the constant wall display of paintings from local Ubud artists. They change every month. |
